Together again

6 November 2002

A little over 22 years ago, my grandfather died.

I don't think my gran every fully recovered from it. He was the love of her life and time never really seemed to ease the pain of her loss.

She's spent the last 22 years wishing she could be with him again, and today, at 12:42, she got her wish.

She is at peace now, and for that I am glad.

God rest her. My thoughts are with you.

I put three sprigs of rosemary in Gran's coffin this morning - one for me, one for you and one for your sister. I know it is tough just now but hang in there, darling daughter. Enjoy your break.

My thoughts are with you and your family. Take comfort that she got her wish.

I'd not been to visit your site in some time, and the last time I was hereabouts there was some similar news. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I will share with you some of my own experience on the grandmother front: my grandfather died February 6, 1978. My grandmother continued to live a wonderful life for years. Still, every year around that time she would become depressed...it made her passing in the early morning hours of February 6, 1990 feel like the end of a love story, as I'm sure you feel about your Gran.

i know this is a little late ... but even though you must miss her terribly, it's nice to think that they are together again :)
i miss my grandmother, too, but in a different way. a few months ago she moved to montana, at age of 92. she was sure it would be the death of her and terrible and cold but she is having a wonderful time and loving it. for that i am SO grateful. but it is VERY probable that i will never see her again and that always makes me sad. the best thing i ever did was, before her house sold, i spent several days over there taking pictures of EVERYTHING. this was the house my father was born in, the only one i'd ever known as 'grandma's house'. i miss that house. but i must've taken over 200 pictures ... the glass doorknobs, the cowbell on the back gate, the garage, the greenhouse, the porch swing... i have a really wonderful screensaver made now, with all those pictures. very cool.
sorry for waxing nostalgic here... grandmas just hit a nerve with me lately :)
