My mate Jo is in an all-girl rock band called the dolz.
You at the back - stop rolling your eyes.
They're really good, and I'm not just saying that because she's my friend.
They're better than The Donnas, better than Hole, and along with doing their own material (which can be sampled on the site), they do* a cover of the Divinyls "I Touch Myself" that will blow your head off, and is so good that I can't listen to the original any more.
A while back, I did a bit of photography for them, and that grew into doing an entire website for them, which grew into doing a CD cover/label for them so they could send their demo to record companies.
Why am I telling you all this now?
Well, after being away from the gig scene for a wee bit to give themselves time to record the demo and rehearse some new material, they're now back, and have a gig this Friday, 12th March at the Bull & Gate in Kentish Town.
More details, and a download and print yourself flyer can be found on the site.
I'm definitely going to be there, but don't let that stop you from printing out a flyer and coming along.
If you need any directions, or want to meet up beforehand for a drink or two, drop me a line.
*update: apparently "do" should be "did". I've been informed that' particular song is no longer in the set list, although I'm campaigning for it to make a return, because it's really good. However, the rest of their stuff is damn good, and I'm sure whatever new material they've come up with (which I haven't heard yet) is so good that including that song would just drag down an excellent set.
Hearing the stuff on the Website (and having vowed to take in more live music) I suspect that I'll be going. As it is after a night shift I may well be ready to keel over, but at least I'll have an interesting story of "Where I ended up after I fell asleep on the tube".
i'll be there! um...can you give me directions from america?
Sure. Turn left at the end of the road then straight on til morning. :)
I've listened to the music and they're great! But the chances of me getting to London to see a gig are about the same as me becoming Pope!
When can I get a CD?
Was that Pixeldiva Productions I saw in the corner of their site?
Are you the next Jerry Bruckheimer?
How about getting some complete tracks uploaded to http://music.download.com ?
