So, tonight was the final episode of Season 2 of 24.
I've spent so many Sunday nights shouting at my TV over the last six months and ranting and raving about it online afterwards, and tonight was no exception.
So here we go with the immediate rants and raves.
Rants
Jack faints and cringes and crashes the car, and yet can beat seven shades of shit out of a random henchman after shooting all his cronies. As IF.
Kim doesn't die, and thus we will be forced to put up with her simpering stupidity, pert nipples and annoying whiny voice next season.
They nobbled the President. You bastards! (also, what were the secret service doing letting the the public that close to the President?!?!)
Carrie didn't get the slapping she richly deserved. She'll probably shack up with Chapelle and be even more annoying next year.
That totally pointless scene between the Warner family. Did anyone care? Anyone? Bueller?
Sherry Palmer did the right thing coming back for Jack. This irritates me beyond belief, because then I find myself thinking of her character with even the slightest hint of sympathy, rather than wishing to see her bitchslapped and killed in a very painful manner. Only slightly related - I know she was supposed to look uneasy when walking towards the meeting point - not like someone had just shoved a broom handle up her arse.
How did they not hear the helicopter approaching? It's not like it could sneak up on tippie-toes, now could it?
Isn't it Secret Service procedure in the case of anything going wrong with the Prez to bundle him into the limo and get the hell out of there? Not to leave him lying on the pavement like a fish out of water and calling for an ambulance. Dolts. Anyone who wanted to could just finish the job while they were fannying around.
Raves (these may be slightly Tony baised. Apologies)
Tony growing a spine:
- "I'll handle this Carrie" - "I thought you were in custody" - "I was released"
- "Either fire me or get outta my chair" - Go Tony!
That little scene between Tony and Michelle where he says "I'll see you tomorrow" and she smiles and walks off, and he gives her a look that would melt the knickers off anyone else instantly and bites his lip in a way that nearly made me fall off the sofa on account of the puddle of drool which immediately formed... and I'd just gotten comfortably cool after sweating over a hot cooker making dinner an hour before. Phew. Cold shower time I think (again).
Palmer is unbelievably gracious in getting his presidency back and proves once more that he's not just a good man but a smart one too by firing Mike Novack. Well, except for the bit where he still cares about his scheming, cheating, conspiring wife. That bit he's not so smart on, but hell, it shows he's at least human.
Kief's chest. Nuff said.
Once more, too many rants and not enough raves... but even so, I'll still be getting the DVD set when it's released tomorrow (nice timing there guys) and will at some point in the coming weeks watch Season 1 (which I bought but haven't yet watched) and Season 2 back to back, in order to try and make a little more sense of the whole thing. I don't expect to succeed, since I think the writers need to lay off the drugs while they're writing and stop pulling wild twists out of thin air.
So yes, here's to Season 3, which I have no doubt will be as irritating as the first two, but I'll still wind up watching it.
Looking forward to season 3 of 24 and cool as cucumber Bauer and Almeida. I agree, the daughter is unbelievably stupid.
Before season two, we watched the whole season 1 in like 4 days. It was like a duty thing, coming come, grabbing something to eat in front of the TV and promising each other that episode was going to be the last, nevertheless watching 5 or 6 in a row...
Its obvious you wrote that in a burst of adrenaline. Your spelling was awful! Doesn't Typepad have a spell-checker then?
i thought season two was too over the top, especially when compared with the first season. that said, i watched it every week, and after making allowances for huge plot holes and stupid behaviours by otherwise mastermind criminals, very much enjoyed it.
My biggest problem was that we lived in an area of the middle of nowhere that doesn't get broadcast television. We'd watch 24 on FX via sattellite six days after the rest of the country saw it on Fox.
FX did not show the season finale! So for me it was 23. I still have not seen the last episode and it aired in May over on this side of the Atlantic. Ugh! Somehow i will eventually see it. But now i'll need to see episode 23 to remember what was happening.
I'm sorry to hear that Kim survived. She may be Canadian, but there's no need for her to be on the show. So many times i wished someone, anyone, would put a bullet in her head.
And on an off 24 topic - The Reindeer Section. I love that album, too. I bought it when it first came out because it's the Snow Patrol people and that Snow Patrol album (When it's all over we still have to clear up) is one of my more favourites from last year. Nice to hear that someone else is into them, too.
