There is no easy way to say this.
I've never done this kind of thing before.
Come to think about it, I'm not even sure that this kind of thing ever actually works.
A colleague of mine has just come back from a life-changing round the world trip that she spent a lot of time planning and making sacrifices for (including postponing it for a year to be a bone marrow donor), and when she came back, she discovered she'd sacrificed more than she intended. Which sucks, big time.
So when she sent round a mail yesterday afternoon looking for help to get a free ipod, I rolled my eyes a bit, muttered to myself that it'd never work, and then when I thought about it a bit more, I signed up, because, well, it won't solve her problems, but it might cheer her up, and that'd be a good thing.
Here's the thing though.
I really want an ipod.
Really, really.
So in the spirit of the game, and partly, as a bit of an experiment, I'd really, really appreciate it if you would help me get a free ipod too.
I have no really good reason, other than I'd really like one and I don't have one already.
I have no real justification, although I tell myself that if I get an ipod photo, then I can get the camera connector and I wouldn't have to get a laptop or handfuls of CompactFlash cards to keep me in photos in the unlikely event that I ever go on holiday.
I don't even really have a sob story.
I'd just really like one.
So if you're feeling generous, please, help me get a free ipod.

You could always do like geoff did(as long as you don't mind having loads of music you really hate on your ipod)

@stroppycow: Yeah, but Geoff's already done that, and I'm not creative enough at the moment to come up with a different way of doing something similar.
@Neil: Ideally, the iPod photo, cos, well, if I'm going to grovel, then I might as well make it for something well worth grovelling for :)
Can I do it even if I'm not in the UK? I've already earned my free photo iPod in the US, I just ordered it the other day!
Unfortunately, it seems that it's only open to people with UK addresses, but thanks for thinking about it :)
But what would you do if someone bought you an iPod just like that?

I'd be extremely grateful (possibly including tears and hugs and other over-emotional type things), obviously.
Might wonder why, mind, but other than being very thankful I've no real idea of what I'd do.
It might depend who'd done the purchasing. :)
