Pink for October

5 October 2006

No need to adjust your monitor.

Yes, this site (or at least the home page of it) is now pink.

Why?

Because I felt like a change, and I read about Pink for October.

You should go read too.

looks more magenta than pink on my screen.
Much friendlier image than black.
I guess magenta is the new black.
Good choice.

It's more than pink enough for me... and if it was any lighter, the contrast wouldn't be ok, so dark pink it is. :)

Sorry for the flippant comment.
I just visited the link you provided.
Very humbling and poignant stories.
Thanks for posting this link.

Oh, no need to apologise at all...

Yay, another Pinkified site.

And yeah, it's more than pink enough. Rather like chez moi

Err... Lyle's is definitely magenta. Pix's is more of a red on my crappy-work-5-year-old-CRT-shitheap.

I'll have another look later at home, but I still think it's red.

#FF99CC is PINK. Proper pink like.

Ah yes, but that pink gives these results for colour contrast:

Foreground:#FF99CC Background:#FFFFFF

colour difference:153/brightness difference:66

The difference in brightness between the two colours is not sufficient. The threshold is 125, and the result of the foreground and background colours is 66.

The difference in colour between the two colours is not sufficient. The threshold is 500, and the result of the foreground and background colours is 153.

Which would be bad. Not to mention unreadable.

My pink is #AD0057, which gives results of:

Foreground:#AD0057 Background:#FFFFFF

colour difference:505/brightness difference:194

The difference in brightness between the two colours is sufficient. The threshold is 125, and the result of the foreground and background colours is 194.

The difference in colour between the two colours is sufficient. The threshold is 500, and the result of the foreground and background colours is 505

Which is all good.

Thank you for the link. My mother battled breast cancer for 5 years before dying of complications from leukemia. I have forwarded it to all the women in my life that I hold dear :)

I guess by your standards that's quite a lot of pink :-)

Admittedly on D4D™ I don't necessarily go for "readable", but prefer "eye-burning" as a colour-concept.

Then again, I now never use the colour versions anyway, and stick to "Worksafe". I'm such a hypocrite. *grin*

#AD0057?! Insufficient brightness difference threshold? That's crazy talk!

Or like, not. I'm using #FF99CC for my pinking-up either way. So :-P
