Prayer Blossom
The Story
Derek also chose his wedding day.
This photo was taken a few days after his requested date, because, well, I didn't take any pictures for a couple of weeks.
The day after my dad died, I flew back to London. I needed a few days to gather my strength for the funeral, and one of those days, I went for a walk.
A very long walk.
I walked from Archway all the way through Waterlow Park, where I found this fabulous cherry tree with brass prayers tied to it. On and on, through the suburbs to Hampstead Heath, where I walked right across the heath to Belsize Park, and down through Camden.
This cherry tree still makes me smile.
