Lines
The Story
Tracy from sh1ft.org has run the 26 Things photographic scavenger hunt every few months since July 2003.
I missed the first two hunts, but when she put the third list up, I decided that I didn't want to miss out on the fun for a third time.
I printed out the list, I packed my cameras, I took off for Camden, all fired up with the idea of getting all 26 things in one day.
I didn't quite manage that, but I got a lot of them and filled the gaps with selected shots from my archives.
I then sat down and coded up what was intended to be the proof of concept for the idea I had for a photo gallery.
Unfortunately, it didn't work out quite as I had planned and certain bits didn't work to my satisfaction. Being the perfectionist (pain in the arse) that I am, I didn't make the site, or the photos, live.
It was a worthwhile exercise though, because that gallery became this gallery (albeit months later), and it feels only right that the photos now get their 15 minutes (well, maybe day or so) of fame.
The first item on the list was "Lines", and was one of the easiest to get. I eventually settled on this one, a bunch of multicoloured striped bendy straws, which I found stuffed into a polystyrene cup on a market stall.

Oooooo . . . stripey loveliness.
I notice with some digust that some cheeky miscreant has only gone and stolen the last straw . . .
