On Style and Bravery

11 April 2005

I will freely admit that I am rarely, if ever, the epitome of style and elegance, even when I'm making an effort.

That said, to the lady who got off the tube in front of me this morning, who was wearing:

- leopard print strappy sandals with a 3" heel;
- red fishnets;
- a royal blue irridescent evening skirt with an asymetric hem and random gathers;
- a black t-shirt type top;
- a leopard print teddy bear fur jacket;
- huge hoop earrings;
- a bright green hair glasp with lace and a bow.

I have to ask...

Did you get dressed

a) in the dark?
b) in a hurry?
c) by diving head first into your wardrobe and seeing what stuck?
d) all of the above?

Because wow. I wish I had your courage. I really do.

@Simon: If that was your mum, screw the question about the clothes, I want to know what fountain of youth she's drinking from :)

@Timorous Beastie (btw, great name!): I dunno, I didn't get a look at her face, which is perhaps just as well.

@Gordon: It was in Kings Cross tube station... but she wasn't nearly raddled enough to be one of the local girls ;)

I saw a woman yesterday shopping in leopard-print slippers. But it's nowhere near as impressive as your tale, pix.

Hey, two leopard-print items, that's co-ordination. The lady was clearly trying. As for the rest of it, though... maybe she'd heard that "matchy-matchy" dressing was *so* not fashion. And took that to its logical conclusion.
