London got the Olympics in 2012.
Might be a good time to do that tour of the US I always promised myself I'd do...
You'll miss the party. I'd suggest you stay around and get the camera out. Manchester in 2002 was stunning even if you saw none of the sport. I'm sure London will pull it off. Might need to ask a few of the Mancunians for advice on how to do it :)
I agree with Pix on this one - I'm going to be out of the country. And I was in Manchester for the Commonwealth Games, which has only solidified my resolve to avoid this one like the pestilence it is.
yikes. I guess it also signals London going from second or third most expensive city to live in on the planet to top of the list.
Or will it only be the famously wealthy boroughs of Newham and Hackney who have to fork out?
Also I know two people whose livihoods are now in question as they have had there businesses premises compulsory purchased. Ok they had some warning, but both say they may not be able to keep their business going as a result of the move.

I can't wait. Bring it on I say. For all the bad points, I think the good points far out weigh it. I think London will put on a great 2012 and I look forward to it imensely.
