Things not to do at 11pm on a weeknight

Take it into your head that you're going to move the MovableType install to a different domain on your hosting account by just dragging and dropping the MT install directory.

It doesn't work and you'll panic about getting it all working again.

Things to do at 11pm the next weeknight

Stop faffing. Think about what you're trying to do, and don't mess with things if you're not sure what they'll do.*

Go to bed.**

In other news

Typekey authentication for comments now works properly. So the two of you who tried to login can now login to your heart's content.

* is it just me, or is trying to restore a borked MT install that doesn't only have your entire blog, but someone else's too, the second most arse-clenching geek thing you can do, next to flashing the BIOS on your motherboard?

** obviously, that bit didn't work.

When you wrote "weeknight" you clearly meant "week night" and not "wee knight" which is how I managed to first read it.

And whilst the details of your MT shenanigans are not to be trivialised, I was expecting something altogether stranger.

Hmmm . . . if you don't go messing with things just because you don't know what they'll do, how else are you going to find out how they work? Next you'll be advocating 'Reading the Instructions. Not likely. Pah.

Are you looking for any other expressions of interest in becoming your 'Arse-clenching geek thing'?

Jim: I'm fairly certain that fiddling with a vertically challenged knight would have been far more entertaining than trying to fix the MT install, although probably not something I'd have discussed on this blog.

adhoc: Other than yours? Not so far. I think the rigorous selection process is somewhat discouraging to the casual clencher.

*testing the TypeKey login while chuckling at the wee knight idea.*

Ah. So that's why the RSS feeds went mental.
