Moving On

10 October 2003

Two years ago, on the 28th of September 2001 I put the last box in the back of a large van, climbed into the passenger seat and left home. I moved to London to find my fame and fortune, but I couldn't be bothered with that and settled on D and a decent enough job instead.

One year ago, on the 28th of September 2002, D and I moved from the large house we shared with six other people, to a lovely flat in Camden, with the Queen as our landlord, and one other person sharing with us on a part time basis.

This year, on the 28th of September 2003, we didn't move anywhere. Bucking the trend, we're moving this weekend, and tomorrow, the 11th of October 2003, we will leave the extortionate Council Tax rates of the London Borough of Camden behind, for the slightly less extortionate Council Tax rates of the London Borough of Islington and a flat which not only has a fantastic terrace, but heat, hot water and is all for just us.

Boxes are almost all packed, exhaustion is setting in, mixed with, if I'm honest, a little bit of excitement, and I'm about to shut down my computer, disconnect my cable modem (sob! farewell, my lovely 2mbit connection) and pack up the last few remaining bits and pieces.

Good friends are at the ready to help us tomorrow, a man with a van will be turning up (we hope) at noon, and so for now, I'm signing off.

Normal service should be resumed next week, with less of the angst and strife that's been so prevalent here the last week or two.

Bye for now!

Welcome to Islington! Just don't do Upper Street on Saturday nights. . .

Thanks Nigel - although it's more of a welcome back to Islington as we moved to Camden from Islington, where we first landed upon arriving in London from the frozen wastes of the North.

We still haven't got much closer to the really "trendy" parts of it tho', although we might make more of an effort to partake of the benefits of Upper Street this time - and will definitely heed your Saturday night warning :)
