It's not particularly uncommon for lyrics to get stuck in my head.
Certain songs just seem to resonate with me at certain points in my life. I'm fairly sure I'm not alone in this - I'm sure you can all name two or three songs which just seemed to be written about events that were going on in your life at a particular point.
My usual cure of listening to the relevant song until it reaches saturation point, or until whatever is going on in my life resolves itself isn't working very well for me just now.
So, for the sake of trying to clear my head, here are some of the lyrics which have got stuck recently.
"'Cause the walls were shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching..."
"This could be so fun
I might just like it
I might just love it
...
I just don't know yet
Can't wait to find out"
"It may be over but it won't stop there,
I am here for you if you'd only care.
You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
...
And as you move on, remember me,
Remember us and all we used to be"
"Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There's always one reason
To feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day"
"Oh I am young but I have aged
Waited long to seize the day
All things said and plently done
Oh I am young but I have a past
Travelled far to find the start
Yes I am scared and I've been burnt
But life is too short"
"The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin"
"And in these days
When darkness falls early
And people rush home
To the ones they love
You better take a fool's advice
And take care of your own
One day they're here;
Next day they're gone"
"There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones"
"Did I ever tell you about the man who changed my life?
The one I thought, ohhh. Lord... when I saw him walkin'"
Phychoanalysis isn't necessary. I'm very well aware that my head is all over the place and has been for a while, but thankfully, things appear to be settling down now.
So, now I've shown you mine - you show me yours - what songs have been stuck in your head lately?
[Comments have been switched to moderated not because I want to censor comments, but because I'm tired of the comment spam I've been getting lately and haven't had time to do anything major to try and stem the tide.]
A good selection of lyrics and songs you have bouncing in your head. Here are a couple that have been playing in mine:
"Dress me up for battle, when all I want is peace
Those of us who pay the price, come home with the least
Nation after nation, turning into beast
When will there be a harvest for the world"
"Well, I know it's easier to say then do
Easier to look away than see it through
I know it's easier to think than feel
Easier to make it up than make it real
Oh it's hard to love
Oh it's hard not to love
Oh it's hard to love
Oh it's hard not to love"
Oh god, loads! I'm currently listening to John Peel's Festive 50 (courtesy of Pete Ashton (.com)). And every time another great track comes on it prompts loads of memories.
So.. er.. pick a lyric from The Fall, Joy Division etc etc
Well tonight thank god it's them, instead of yooooo!
God, that man is an arse.
i've been listening to Neko case alot recently and i keep finding myself singing this tune called 'twist the knife' to myself while im waiting in the queue at the supermarket..
There was this blue aeroplanes album called swagger that i had on tape years ago, i listened to it over and over (and over) when i split up with my then girlfriend. Each and every song seemed to have some relevance.. (makes mental note: go and buy cd when paid..)
It's *always* stuck in my head:
"I get out of bed at half past ten, phone up a friend who's a party animal. Turn on the news and drink some tea, maybe if you're with me, we'll do some shopping."
I think the song is my default head music.
Can't think why, but this has been looping in my mind these past few days:
"There's a place in the sun for anyone
Who has the will
Chase one and I think I found mine
Yes I do believe I have found mine."
Is it a bad thing to have the 'Imperial March' from Star Wars constantly running through your head?
That and the desire to strangle people to death using nothing but the Dark side of the Force?
From time to time this line from Pink Floyd hangs around in my head:
"Set the controls for the heart of the sun"
Somebody had written those words on a desk in a library I happened to be using. Ever since I read them, they've visited me now and then. Something I'm grateful for.
