Black Rat tagged me with this, and I said I'd do it before really realising how difficult it was to do properly.

Seven Things to Do Before I Die:

  1. Make a positive difference. I know this sounds trite, but I really mean it. When I get to the end of my life, I want to be able to look back and know that I made (or helped to make) things better for someone (or several people).
  2. Trace my dad's family tree and make contact with any remaining relatives from that side of the family.
  3. Do a massive road trip across the USA, visiting each and every state (and Hawaii) and tracking down the various family that I have over there, hopefully before all the ones who know of me die.
  4. Have, at least once, owned and lived in my own home. Doesn't have to be a house, can be a narrowboat or something similar.
  5. Have one of my photos published as the centre spread photo in the Guardian.
  6. Stay healthy, active and on my feet as long as possible
  7. Become an Auntie, at least once.

Seven Things I Cannot Do:

  1. Stop swearing (I can stop swearing when needs must, but mostly, it's just too much fun to stop).
  2. Get up in the mornings.
  3. Sleep (and yes, I know this doesn't make sense given the above)
  4. Make life easy for myself.
  5. Play the flute. I can play the violin, cornet, tenor horn, clarinet, piano and drums, but I can't play the flute, and that annoys me more than I can fully express.
  6. Be patient. About anything. No matter how much I want to be.
  7. Lick my elbow. I can however put all the toes on either foot in my mouth (don't ask).

Seven Things That Attract Me to Blogging:

  1. That I can.
  2. That anyone can.
  3. The feedback loop.
  4. That it can give a voice to those who those who have stories to tell - and even those who don't really.
  5. Pictures of cute kittens.
  6. That it can be a way for me to vent if I really need/choose to.
  7. Getting to know people.

Seven Things I Say Most Often:

  1. Fuck! (and all variants thereof)
  2. It is actually possible to create a website that's visually attractive and dynamic and make it accessible too. It doesn't have to be ugly and boring to be accessible. (and variants thereof)
  3. Ace.
  4. Bollocks! (and variants thereof)
  5. Two slices of white toast with butter and peanut butter please. *pause* white *pause* yes, butter *pause* peanut butter please.
  6. Cheers.
  7. Diet coke please.

Seven Books That I Love:

  1. The New York Trilogy by Paul Auster
  2. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
  3. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
  4. The Kitchen Diaries by Nigel Slater
  5. Gobbolino the Witches Cat by Ursula Moray Williams
  6. Tom Shields' Diary
  7. The Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet

Seven Movies That I Watch Over and Over Again:

  1. West Wing (and yes I know it's not a film but it's what I watch most on DVD)
  2. Lost in Translation
  3. Shaun of the Dead
  4. The American President
  5. Pirates of the Caribbean
  6. Too many embarrassingly cheesy chick flicks to mention individually. Shush. I consider them to be the mental equivalent of a sorbet to clear the palate.
  7. Mon Oncle

Seven People I Want To Join In Too:

  1. You.
  2. You.
  3. You.
  4. You.
  5. You.
  6. You.
  7. and You. (copout? moi?)

Well if you'd tagged me I might have done it but no, I'm off in the huff instead. Pah!

P.S. Lovely bones the movie? On the cards I believe.

Moody sod.

... and you didn't do the last meme you said you'd do, so I don't believe you anyway :-p

Two things - if you decide to get round to the family tree stuff, give me a shout. I can point you in the direction of useful websites. The more you can do without leaving your chair the better. Secondly, a bit concerned about the 'join in too' bit. It was starting to get a bit Jim'll Fix It... "you and you and pa pa pa".

You've missed the best thing about blogging: you can talk a load of shit and it doesn't matter if no-one's interested!

Seven Ways To Love - Cola Boy.

(Sorry, but this post just made me think of a St Etienne spin-off record.)

Jack: Thanks for that - I may yet bother you for links at some point in the future. As for the other thing - I thought that was pretty much covered by points 1, 4, 5 and 6.

Inspector: It'd potentially be more interesting if the dash wasn't there...

Annie: Random I guess... and maybe I'm a bit fussy. Interesting reading your answers :)

Re: PotC -- Johnny Depp is a demigod. I hate to think how dire that film would have been without him.

I decided to be a "you"...

Thank you for letting me think about other stuff... You just returned the Meme favour. ;-)

Assuming you could make life easy for yourself, where would the fun in that be? You'd have banged this out two minutes after I tagged you with it, for starters!

Life's one big challenge, full of obstacles to overcome, like Atomic Kitten, Westlilfe and Celine Dion. If you made life easy for yourself, you'd sit at home all day listening to Celine belt out "Think Twice" and you'd think it was a perfectly good song, performed by an outstanding singer who was on intimate terms with pathos. God, the very thought of that is going to give me nightmares - thank God you don't make life easy on yourself!

Jono: demigod? full blown hallelujah chorus proper god I'd say ;)

Nikki: Any time.

BlackRat: Don't you be trying to bring any of that carnage over here... and don't swear in my comments. It's just not nice ;)

Interesting and thoughtful answers.

I hope you'll look me up when you make that trip to Hawaii.

Cheers, Pix!

Wow. And I only thought it was my child that came up with peanut butter and butter sandwiches. (Actually, I think Christine's dad was to blame for that.) Small, bizarre world.
