So a while back I signed up for another one of these yarn swap thingywotsits, and last week, my first parcel of this swap turned up, only I've been too distracted and exhausted to blog about it until now.
As a bit of explanation, in the last week, I have:
So I'm way behind in both my blogging (for both blogs, now), and my emailing, and my knitting, and about a million other things, so I'm just going to do things one thing at a time.
So for now, I'm going to show off the fabulous stuff that my one skein pal sent me, and the pretty wrapping it came in.
I'm delighted that she sent me Curious Yarns sock yarn, because I've been secretly drooling over the goodies at Curious Yarns for ages now, and several times chickened out of buying myself some. Once more, the stuff isn't in a colour I'd have picked out for myself, but I really love the colours and once I've got the saviour sock and the super secret project finished, I fully intend to turn this one skein into something nice for myself.
So thank you one skein pal - you chose very well.
Write about your work, for work.
Ladies and Gentlebeasts, if you've ever wondered why I don't blog about accessibility here, when it's quite clearly (especially if you've ever heard me rant about it) something I'm very passionate about, well wonder no longer.
The RNIB Web Access Team blog (beta) is now live, just in time for @media.
It's not perfect (hence the beta aspect - not just to seem like we're down with the cool kids and all two point ohgetoveryourself), but it's there, and we'll be continuing to work on it as we go along.
I'll be posting about @media over there. At least, the work related stuff - the partying and resultant shameless namedropping will be done here in due course, as is only right and proper.
Sometimes, life is just unbloggable.
It's a bit of an arse really, because it tends to completely overwhelm the odd bits of bloggable life that happen in the middle of it. Then every time you go to blog about those bloggable bits, the unbloggable bits threaten to burst out, like an unintentional mid-word belch at a posh dinner party.
Best not to go there really.
Instead, I'm getting myself geared up for a week and a bit of social whirling, the likes of which I rarely do.
It actually kicked off on Saturday, with a trip to the land of NotLondon where I learned how to crochet with Threshers carrier bags and continued on Sunday with brunch in Balans with Faruk and Fatty, which concluded with a trip to the apple store on Regent Street, where I tried (successfully) to repress the urge to stuff a 17" MacBook Pro down my cleavage.
Tonight saw me visiting a friend who's been stuck in Barts hospital since last Wednesday.
Tomorrow I get to catch up with Christine again, which will be fabulous. Even better, there'll be knitting involved.
Wednesday will see me trying to resist the urge to skip my physiotherapy class and also the start of the @media festivities.
Thursday and Friday I'll be attending @media and the various social events which have been organised around the main business of the conference. If you're going to @media and see me ambling around, do say hi.
Saturday has several options for being sociable, and is far too far away to be able to decide which options are going to be taken.
Sunday will be mostly occupied with getting myself all rocked up. The girls are back in town! Def Leppard are at Hammersmith and it'd be rude not to go see them live, after all this time.
Monday will probably be spent recovering, so it's just as well I booked the whole week off really - a week in which I intend to relax, knit, socialise and probably do some stuff related to the unbloggables.
So why am I telling you all this?
Well partly because it's such a rare event that I'm such a social butterfly and I wanted to note it down, and partly to explain why I might go quiet again over the next few days.
Of course, having said that, the odds are that I'll suddenly start blogging lots.
Anyway.
Busy. Backson.
